As the global market leader and at the forefront of passive acoustic monitoring (PAM) technology, our engineering, environmental, bioscience and research teams come together to provide full service and support to offshore energy, renewables, construction, and marine science sectors. We are currently working on some of the largest offshore wind developments in the world and we have many exciting projects lined up to commence soon.
The Role
We are looking for a talented and driven Marine Acoustician to join our Acoustics Team, the role involves a combination of consultancy and R&D. This will include providing advice on marine acoustics to a wide range of clients in the renewables, oil and gas and other marine industries.
The Candidate
The candidate will:
- Provide input into our R&D, consultancy, modelling and survey work, from initial survey and modelling design, through to data analysis and delivery of reports as well as presentation and publication
- Carry out some in-field data collection
- Further develop analytical methods to determine implications of noise-related disturbance, contribute to impact assessments, and publish the results of your research in peer-reviewed journals and at conferences
- Assist in developing new methodologies and techniques for acoustic modelling including development of innovative and emerging techniques
- Be involved in all aspects of the work including marketing and BD, preparing proposals, project management, modelling and monitoring and report writing
- Demonstrate a positive approach to working a team as well achieving personal goals
- Work with internal and external customers to deliver excellent customer service in person and remotely
- Work in a flexible and proactive manner to support end users and wider business goals
Desirable Skills
- BSc / MSci / MEng (or equivalent) in STEM subject (e.g. physics, applied mathematics, acoustical engineering etc.)
- Circa 2 years of experience in acoustics related field or further study
- Member of Institute of Acoustics (AMIOA / MIOA)
- H&S qualification or training – desirable but not essential
- Must drive due to location, client, and site visits

We are looking for a talented and driven Graduate Marine Acoustician to join our growing Acoustics Team, the role involves a combination of consultancy and R&D, offering the opportunity to provide expert advice on marine acoustics to a range of clients in the renewables, oil and gas, and other marine industries. The role involves working on a variety of technical and geographical projects at different stages of their lifecycle, requiring a flexible approach.
The Candidate
The candidate will:
- Collaborate with the acoustics team and other departments on internal R&D projects
- Contribute to R&D, consultancy, and survey work from initial design through data analysis, report delivery, and publication
- Participate in field data collection
- Develop analytical methods for noise disturbance impact assessments and publish research findings
- Innovate new techniques for acoustic modelling and develop emerging methodologies
- Demonstrate a positive approach to working a team as well achieving personal goals
- Have the ability to work effectively under deadlines, sometimes in high-pressure environments
- Be calm under pressure with a willingness to learn
- Have an entrepreneurial mindset, be self-motivated and collaborative
Desirable Skills
- BSc / MSci / MEng (or equivalent) in STEM subject (e.g. physics, applied mathematics, acoustical engineering etc.)
- Member of Institute of Acoustics (AMIOA / MIOA) or working towards it
- Knowledge of acoustic measurement systems and sensors is desirable
- Knowledge of Seiche products (desirable but not essential, training provided)
- H&S qualification or training – desirable but not essential
- Must drive due to location, client, and site visits
